چکیده

The diagnostic accuracy of two methods for measuring serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase activity was examined in 50 cases of acute myocardial infarction proven by autopsy and in 12 nonfatal cases documented by rigid clinical criteria. All activities measured with the revised spectrophotometric method were elevated during the second day after infarction, and all patients had an elevated activity. The spectrophotometric method therefore had a diagnostic accuracy of 100%. Activities measured with the dinitrophenylhydrazine method of Reitman and Frankel were elevated in only 68% of cases during the second day after infarction, and the activity was elevated in only 76% of all the patients during the first 4 days. Dinitrophenyihydrazine-measured activities were therefore 20-30% inaccurate. The diagnostic inaccuracy of the dinitrophenyihydrazine method could result in 300,000 falsenegative diagnoses of acute myocardial infarction each year in the United States alone.

Comparison of two current colorimetric procedures for determination of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase.

A comparison of two colorimetric procedures for the determination of serum glutamic oxaloacetic acid (SCOT) showed that both the dinitrophenylhydrazine and diazonium salt colorimetric assay procedures have good precision and reproducibility acceptable to most clinical laboratories. Babson’s diazonium salt procedure (3) definitely shows greater precision in the important borderline range of valu...

Automated determination of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase.

A simplified and precise automated method is described for the colorimetric determination of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase. The enzymically generated oxaloacetic acid is dialyzed, coupled with Fast Ponceau L, a diazonium salt, to form a colored solution whose absorbance is measured at 455 m . Dialysis eliminates the need for a serum control determination, thereby halving the analysis ...

Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase in dissecting aneurysm of the thoracic aorta.

FOR obvious reasons, separation of the entities of myocardial infarction and dissecting aneurysm of the thoracic aorta has often presented a difficult and perplexing problem in clinical medicine. With the advent of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) determination as a diagnostic measure in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, it has been suggested' that this procedure may be of h...

Automated Determination of Serum Glutamic Oxalacetic and Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase.

The determination of serum glutamic oxalacetic and glutamic pyruvic transaminase has been simplified by the use of automated analysis. The flow diagrams, concentration of reagents, and calculation of the color unit in terms of the Karmen unit are shown for 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and 6-benzamido-4-methoxy-m -toluidine diazonium chloride as the reacting dyes. Advantages of both methods are co...

بررسی اثر محافظتی عصاره هیدروالکلی شاهی بر مسمومیت کبدی ناشی از استامینوفن در موش صحرایی

Background and purpose: Acetaminophen is a routine analgesic and antipyretic agent that in overdose causes liver and kidney necrosis in both humans and animals. The cress (Lepidium sativum L.) contains flavonoid, alkaloid, and antioxidant components. In this study we investigated the hepatic protection of the hydroethanolic extract of cress against hepatotoxicity due to acetaminophen. Material...
